Critical v2.0

Ok, /deep breath. Ya'll can stop with the hate emails now I get the point. Let's try toning it down a notch and giving it another go.

Meet the new Semi and a Tad-Less Critical Goblin.
I dont quite know how I am going to be brutally honest without the brutality. I guess I just have to keep reminding myself Critical is not like her twin brothers: Nasty and Jerk Goblins. Be cool be nice. Be cool be nice. Ok I'm calm.

The end of Critical

After serious consideration I am shutting down Critical and his blog. He is the jerk part of me that should never have seem daylight. I have tried to tone it down but when it comes to passionate subjects I can't control myself whilst in Critical character.

To the writers and readers I have offended please believe me when I say I am sorry.

Thanks Foo for believing there could be a good guy inside Critical, sorry to quit this early. Take care buddy.

Glyphs on Faid's server

Argent Dawn has quite a nice tabard design:

Ok the real topic for this post today is the glyph market on the Argent Dawn server Alliance side, aka Faid's playground. Why? Because she has put a 30g ceiling on glyphs as a fantastic experiment resulting in very interesting market changes.

Boiling Point

Today's post is short and sweet.

A goblin's boiling point is where they cannot stand the heat of the current market and give up.

Why Inscription?

The real question is, why not? Ok enough commenting on other blogs and back to business.

There are 4 profit centers for the Inscription profession (ignoring intermediary mats):

Social Responsibility?

Swoosh, Saffronia and deja commented on Faid's new post which was yesterday's breaking news.

The general gist of their comments are along the lines of "you know you're ruining the market for the other scribes".

Faid plans to own her Glyph Market

Breaking News: Faid has declared war on her glyph market. This is what we call a winner. Someone who says: I am going to win. And believes it.

Profit Equation

Ok so Critical has already introduced the Business Team. Now it's time to link it to Profits. The above is a simple equation but it is very insightful for understanding how to compete in a ultra competitive market.

Independent Buyer/Maker/Sellers

This is one of the reasons why the Market Leader owns your market. He takes his buying, crafting and selling so seriously he sacrifices 1 character to handle each of these "jobs", maybe even 2 (or 3) for Sales.

Business Team

Building on last week's post, Critical says: operate glyphs as a business (B) and you will become a millionaire.

Now in its most simplest form glyphs is a 3man business.
1. Buyer - his job is to source and buy correct raw materials at the right price.
2. Maker - his job is to make the right product.
3. Seller - her job is to sell product at the right price.

Now lets pit my team vs your team, Capcom vs Marvel style:

Blog Goal

I have previously described the objective/purpose of this blog. Now its time for Critical to set a goal for this blog. Remember, always aim high.

Blog Stats Week 1

Management 101: To measure how well (or poorly) you are doing you must monitor your performance. These weekly recaps aim to capture:
1. Blog stats
2. Things I have learnt
3. Things I would like to learn

We all want to be like Mike

Foo again dismisses wanting to be a Market Leader. What he doesn't realize is that becoming (or remaining) the Market Leader is EXACTLY why we turn up to work at the AH every day. We all want to be the Market Leader in our markets.

Advance class: Threat Assessment

If you are already the Glyph Market Leader, competition threat assessment is vital. For each serious competitor assess his/her threat level to your business. One way to assess the threat level of a competitor is to answer the following questions and at the end assign a threat score. For each one, in the brackets, I have noted where you can get the info from. Spy hats on ladies!

Competition Assessment

Even Paris Hilton reads Art of War.

Sun Tzu talks about "Know your enemies and know yourself". The other guys selling glyphs are your competitors, your enemies. There is no shared profit on a glyph sale. Every sale someone else gets he took from you.

The objective of today's post is understand your competition.

Cashflow Quadrant

Most glyphers are an E or a S in the sense they mill, craft, sell and if their pay rate drops below a certain gold/hour, are willing to "quit" and restart work only if offered a good pay rate.

Glyph Market Leader

Can everyone own their server's glyph market? Nope, only two (H/A) per server can claim that achievement.

Can anyone own their server's glyph market? Certainly.

That's what this blog is about. Teaching you how to be that guy and own your glyph market. It sounds like a hard goal. It is. But like everything else in life, nothing worth accomplishing comes easy.

Now let's start by defining "owning a glyph market". To Critical this means you are the market leader for glyphs on your server+faction or better referred to as being the Glyph Market Leader (GML).

How do you know you are your server's GML? Simple. Pie time!

Goals and Planning

Critical would like to start his fantastic blog career with two well known but often ignored pearls of wisdom.

Critical's Introduction

Who is Critical?

As you can see here, here, here and here Critical is an inscriptionist with a weird mad passion for glyphs and darkmoon cards and trinkets and strangely enjoys referring to himself in the 3rd person.

Critical also has alchemists, JC's and enchanters however they are dormant. For the time being anyway. No tailoring/lw/bs/mine/eng/cook/fish.
